Lester Bailey officiating. Interment was in Highland park cemetery in Ionia. Mr. Alexander was a former police chief, water commissioner and bakery owner in Ionia and was a former member of the Masonic lodge and Elks in Ionia. He was also a member of the Church of Christ in Ionia. He died Sunday morning, July 1 at 9:48 at a convalescent home in Battle Creek. He had operated a restaurant in Battle Creek since 1930 and became ill in 1949 and since his illness, the restaurant had continued under the management of his wife, Flora and his son Gerald. Born May 17, 1881 in Ionia, he was the son of Eleam and Martha (More) Alexander and was married to the former Flora Guernsey in Ionia May 26, 1907. The family moved to Battle Creek in 1928. Surviving are his wife, Flora, a son, Gerald, a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Beulah) Huck and a granddaughter, Miss Martha Lee Morehead, all of Battle Creek. Graveside services were held at 3 o’clock Tuesday in Ionia.
