Alexander, age 55 of White Cloud, passed away Friday, January 6, 2006, at his home following a short illness. Dick was born on September 20, 1950 in Ionia County to Richard L. and Anna (Smalley) Alexander and married Teresa Traviss on September 2, 1983 in Rockford. Dick had worked at the Lescoa Plant 1 2nd Shift supervisor until 1997 when he took over the ownership and operation of Alexander's Full Service Station in White Cloud. Alexander's station was the only full service gas station in Newaygo County still in operation. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association Junior Drag Racing; member of the National Hot Rod Association; enjoyed drag racing himself and with his children and raced throughout Michigan and the Midwest at Division 3 Race Tracks since 1997. He was affiliated with the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Alexander and his sister, Judy Ann Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Teresa of White Cloud; his children, Dawn (Frank) Strecker of Crystal, Michigan; Michele Alexander of Fenwick, Michigan; Travis Alexander of White Cloud; Danielle Alexander of White Cloud; his grandchildren, Heather Alexander, Daneen Alexander; Bethany Alexander; Brennan Stearns and Justan Stearns; his father, Richard L. Alexander of Sidney, Michigan; his brothers, Tom (Michelle) Alexander of Greenville; Terry Alexander of San Diego, California; his sister, Cathy Lynn of Vickerville, Michigan; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Funeral mass services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2006 from the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud. Interment is in White Cloud Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crandell Funeral Home, White Cloud Chapel, with a scripture service at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Dick Alexander’s family to assist with funeral costs and his children’s education fund.
