Allchin, aged 65, of 126 Dale St., N.E., Grand Rapids, died Saturday afternoon at St. Mary’s hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Allchin was born at Fenwick, April 24, 1898,and had been in the men’s furnishing business in Belding as Wortley and Allchin and in Rockford. He also had been with the Michigan State Revenue Department for several years and had been a bank examiner for the State. At the time of his death he was owner of his own accounting firm. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Allchin was a member and past commander of Rockford American Legion Post 102. On Dec. 25, 1923, he was married to the former June Pollock of Cedar Springs, who survives. Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Ben (Joan) Mason, Mrs. Jack (Peggy) Glupker, Mrs. Tom (Sharon) Crampton of Grand Rapids; two sons, Dewey (Skip) Allchin of Blacksford, Va., Vir (Mike) Allchin at home; two sisters, Mrs. Beth Jewell of Fenwick, Mrs. Cecil Armstrong of Flint; 14 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Van Strien-Alman Funeral Chapel, Grand Rapids, with the Rev. Floyd C. Bryan of Second Congregational church, Grand Rapids, officiating. Burial was in Sunny Hill cemetery at Palo. Arrangements were in charge of Charles M. Courser, Belding.
