Michigan Veteran Soldiers’ Home Obituary Book, Vol. 3, Page 127

Portland:  October 13, 1931

George P. Allen, thirty seven, lifelong resident of this village was killed 
instantly late yesterday while repairing his mothers home in Detroit.  He fell 
to a cement walk when an upper porch railing against which he was leaning gave 
way.  He was an ice dealer here and was the son of the late Orra Allen.  He is 
survived by the widow and two children, his mother and a brother.  

He saw army service overseas with the Machine Gun Battalion of the Eighty-
Fifty Division. 

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Thursday at the congregational 
church.
