The doctor and his wife have so endeared themselves in the affections of the people, that we remember now the kindly interest manifested when a year ago the advent of the little strangers was announced among us. Wells was first called to leave and now John has gone to join his twin brother in the home that never shall be saddened by the death of any of its inmates. Our sympathy goes out warmly toward the bereaved parents, and we can only point them to the hopes of the blessed hereafter for consolation. John Allen, only surviving son of G. D. and Laura Allen, was born in Portland, April 17th, 1876, and died of lung fever, April 3d, 1877. The funeral was held at the residence of Dr. Allen on April 5th, Elder Cornell officiating. A few tender words by the minister, a tribute of song by some of the friends and then the form of the little one was committed back to the care of our common mother earth.
