George H. Allen, 79, of 434 West Grand River Avenue, died Tuesday at Sparrow
hospital in Lansing where he had been a patient three weeks.  He was born in
Muir and had been a resident of the Portland-Muir area all his life.  For 43
years he was employed as village electric plant operator, retiring several years
ago.  He was married 54 years to his wife, Myrtle who survives.

Other survivors are two sons, Ivis J. Allen of Ann Arbor and Thomas H. Allen of
Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Jenette of Bradenton, Fla., and Mrs.
Georgia Green of Muskegon; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted at Neller funeral home Friday at 3:30 p.m. by
the Rev. Robert Treat of Portland Methodist church.  Burial will be at Portland
cemetery.
