Allen, 72, of 667 North Union street, died in her home early Monday. Born in Minnesota, December 26, 1904, she was a daughter of Albert and Emma (Oberacker) Martin. The family moved to Chicago to make their home where she married Charles Allen and then moved to Ionia in 1926. He preceded her in death in 1938. Mrs. Allen was employed at one time in the Ypsilanti-Reed factory, the Ionia Manufacturing Co. and retired from the A.O. Smith plant in 1969. For the past 3 ½ years she made her home in Pine Vista Apartments, She was a long-time member of the Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Ionia. Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Paul (Anna) Skinner of Wyoming, Mich., and Dorothy Patrick of Ionia; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A son John preceded her in death in 1944. Services are Thursday at 3 p.m. from Leddick funeral home with Rev. Carl Hausermann, of the First United Methodist church, officiating. A memorial has been established for the Michigan heart Association. The family will be at the funeral home to receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Burial is at Highland Park cemetery.
