MATTIE LOU ALLEN

Mrs. Mattie Lou Allen, 72, of 29 North King died Wednesday evening at Ionia County 
Memorial hospital.

Born in North Carolina August 8, 1899, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Columbus
Wheeler.

She was married September 31, 1926, in North Carolina to Jennings J. Allen. They
moved to Lansing in 1929 where they resided 32 years before moving to Ionia. Her husband
worked in the offices of 11 governors in Lansing.

She was a member of First Baptist church of Lansing.

Surviving are her husband, Jennings of Ionia: son, Bryan Allen of Lansing: two
daughters, Mrs. Velma Fitzgerald of Ionia and Mrs. Lenora Crandall of Indianapolis, Ind.; seven
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; four brothers, Powell Wheeler of San
Francisco, Calif., Raymond of Bakersfield, Calif., Warren of Portland, Ore., Dean of Tucson,
Ariz.; sister, Mrs. Doris Minor of San Francisco, Calif.

Funeral services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Myers-Roetman funeral home. Rev.
Gilbert Kohler will officiate and interment will be at Balcom cemetery.
Family will be at the funeral home Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9
p.m.
