June 23, 1927 LARGEST FUNERAL IN LAKE O IN YEARS M.C.H. Allen Passed Away After Two Weeks of Illness. One of the largest funerals ever held in Lake Odessa took place last Friday when Clifton Allen was laid to rest. The funeral was held in Central M.E. Church conducted by W.E. Wortley, undertaker, Rev. O. F. Bulman, Pastor, preached and Mrs. Wm. O. Tietz and Mrs. Wm. McCartney accompanied by Mrs. M.M. Armstrong furnished the music. Mr. Allen was well known in Berlin, Sebewa, and Odessa townships and had many friends. He has for some time been the local agent for the dodge car and was held in high esteem by other dealers. He and his estimable family have made many friends since their residence here, who sympathize with them in their great loss. OBITUARY Clifton H. Allen, son of George and Lucinda Allen was born in Berlin Township, Ionia County, on February 10, 1877 and departed this life at his home on Fourth Ave. on June 15, 1927, at the age of 50 years, 4 months and 5 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Clara Ellen Thomas on July 14, 1897. Mr. and Mrs Allen Began housekeeping on their farm in Berlin township, where they lived until five years ago when they moved to lake Odessa. To them were born three children, Irma M., now Mrs. Charles Buche, William Allen and Irene Mae. Mr. Allen was a man of very friendly disposition. He enjoyed a very large circle of friends and acquaintances. While he has not been in the best of health for the past year, still his death which resulted from a severe stroke of paralysis which he suffered some two weeks ago, while in the city of Ionia, was a great shock to his family and friends. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, the three children named above, one sister, and three grandchildren; Bernice Elaine, Roger lane, and Paul William.
