Lake Odessa Wave - January 16, 1975
           RITES HELD TUES. FOR WILLIAM ALLEN
   William A. Allen, 74, of 1614 N. Fourth Ave., passed away Saturday evening at the
Provincial House at 
Hastings where he had been a patient for ten months following an extended illness.
   He was born October 23, 1900 in Berlin Township, Ionia County, the son of Clifton
and Clara (Thomas) Allen.  
He married Laura Lane, December 5, 1921 and had been a lifelong resident of the Lake
Odessa area.
   He retired from farming and moved to their home in Lake Odessa in 1951.
   Mr. Allen served as supervisor of Odessa Township tor two years, justice of the
peace of Berlin Township for 
eight years, was the treasurer of the Durkee School Board for eight years, field
supervisor for the Lake 
Odessa Canning Company for three years and a member of the Board of Directors of the
Woodland Fire 
Insurance Company for ten years.
   Surviving are his wife, Laura F.; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Bernice) Hamp and two
sons, Roger and Paul of 
Lake Odessa; 11 grandchildren' 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mr. Irma Buche
of Lake Odessa and Mrs. 
Eldon (Irene) Hamilton of Lake, Mich., and nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were held at 1:30 Tuesday at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel. 
Rev. William Hertel 
officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
