Ionia County News, 26 Jun 1941

Samuel Allen, 82, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Corl, Saturday
morning, after a month’s illness.  He was born April 15, 1859, in Pennsylvania,
and when a young man went to Ohio, where he spent a brief time before coming to
Michigan.  

His wife was Miss Emma Miller of Cedar Springs, and their married life was spent
near Tustin, Lake City, and Cadillac.  They were the parents of five children,
Mrs. George Anderson of Lake City, Mrs. Ida Drummond and Leon Allen of Grand
Rapids, Mrs. Frank Robinson of Ronald, and Mrs. Corl, who with several
grandchildren survive him.

A prayer service was held at the Corl home Monday at 11:30 and the remains taken
to Cadillac where funeral services were held at three o’clock, with burial
there.  Mrs. Allen died many years ago, and Mr. Allen had lived most of the time
since, with his children.  He had been with Mrs. Corl the past year.
