Officiating was Rev. William VanderHaak of Grand Rapids. Mrs. Allen died early Wednesday at her residence following a short illness. She was born in Grandville the daughter of Albert and Bowena Osterhouse Medemar and attended school there graduating as president of her senior class in 1907. Married to William R. Allen in Byron Center in 1907 she made her home in Grandville area before moving to Lowell then coming to Ionia in 1920. Her husband preceded her in death in 1956. She was a member of First Christian church. Surviving are five sons, William G. of Clearwater, Fla., Robert E. of Grand Rapids, Lyle B. of Charlotte, Howard H. and Richard D. of Ionia; four daughters, Lucile Allen of Palm Beach, Fla., and Ionia, Mrs. Ila Dunkelberg of Ionia, Mrs. Mildred Andersen of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Charles Medler of Algonac; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Bocks of Grandville. Sons and grandsons served as bearers. A memorial fund has been established for the First Christian church migrant ministry fund. Arrangements were made by Boynton-Leddick funeral home.
