L. Dennis Allen age 58 of Ionia, passed away February 23, 2007 in Lansing.  He 
was born October 1, 1948 in Ionia the son of Leo and Caroline (Degroot) 
Allen.  He was a 1966 graduate of Ionia High School.  Dennis married Suzie 
Stebbins August 15, 1995.  He worked for IUE-CWA Union as an International 
Representative.  He loved baseball and was very involved with Greater Ionia 
Youth League as a coach and in other areas for many years.

He is survived by his wife Suzie Allen of Ionia; father, Leo Allen of Ionia; 
children, Dennis and Angela Allen Jr. of Ionia, Tim Allen of Ionia, Jeff Allen 
of Lowell, Julie Catherine Wieczorek-Allen and Scott Feltenberger of East 
Lansing; step sons, Scott Shellenbarger of Palo, Troy Shellenbarger of Ionia, 
Aaron Nelson Shellenbarger of Ionia; sisters, Julie and Don Riger of Ionia, 
Debbie and Bob Flynn of Ionia; 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, many 
nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother Caroline, sister 
Carolea H. and grandson Timothy Scott Allen Jr.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Rev. Kirk Starkweather officiating. The family will receive friends and 
relatives Tuesday 6-8 PM at the funeral home.  Anyone wishing may make 
memorial contributions in Dennis’s name to Greater Ionia Youth League. In 
recognition of Dennis’s love of baseball please feel free to attend services 
with your baseball cap.
