(Ted) Allen, 84, Lyons. They set the date for next Tuesday, Feb. 22. The affair will be held at 2 p.m. at the Shaw-Rivett Funeral Home at Muir. A coroner’s jury that Kauffman impaneled the night of the accident viewed the body there and also the accident scene. According to Deputy Omer Postle and Undersheriff Michael Brindle, who investigated, Allen was killed when he walked past a diagonally parked car at the main downtown street intersection in Lyons and then along the street with his back to an approaching auto driven by Robert Ralph, 19, Lyons. Ralph’s car hit him and Allen suffered a broken neck. Prosecutor Watt stated that those who would be summoned for the inquest in addition to the officers involved would be Ralph, Ralph’s wife, Barbara; the latter’s mother and sister, Mrs. James McCue and Marilyn McCue, who were riding with him; one eye-witness to the accident and another spectator who arrived shortly afterward. Ralph and his wife, who had been married only the previous week, were en route to a wedding reception for them at a church parsonage at the time of the accident. Funeral services for Allen were held Tuesday afternoon from the Shaw-Rivett Funeral Home, Muir. Burial was in Lyons cemetery.
