Alspaugh, died Saturday at 3 a.m. at the Battle Creek Sanitarium, where he has been a patient for two weeks. He suffered a stroke March 30, at the Marshall-Wright Lumber Co., where he has been employed for the past two years. He was born March 4, 1890, in Ionia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Alspaugh. He worked for many years for the Robb and Reed grocery store. He then operated a grocery store of his own in Grand Rapids, and later worked for Kroger in Battle Creek. He was a member of the First Methodist church in Ionia. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; two sons, Gordon of Ionia, and Douglas of New York City; four grandchildren; three brothers, Robert of Lansing, Melvin of Grand Rapids and Lloyd of Newberry; three sisters, Mrs. Tom Latimer of Lansing, Mrs. Ward Richmond of Newberry and Miss Ann Alspaugh of Traverse City. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 o’clock from the Boynton funeral home with the Rev. George Woolcock of Traverse City officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
