Word of the tragic death Wednesday of the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. 
Q. Altenburg, former Ionians, was received in a telegram last night by Mr. 
Altenburg’s sister, Mrs. Eugene Cottrell, E. Main street.  The little boy, 
Russel, was burned to death when a barn in which he was playing was destroyed 
by fire.

Mr. Altenburg was for years an accountant in the Pere Marquette freight office 
here.  He moved to Lakeview some six years ago and later to Brown City, Mich., 
where he is the Pere Marquette agent and where the tragedy took place.

Mr. Altenburg was a member of the Masonic order and of the Eastern Stars here 
and was widely acquainted throughout the city.
