Deceased came to Michigan from New York two years ago, and had made his home with his brother since that time. He was a veteran of the War of the Rebellion and was about to receive a pension for rupture of the groin, which was the cause of his death. He was a widower, but had two sons, Willis and Thomas. The former has not been located but Thomas is a stone mason and has worked about Portland more or less for some years past. Deceased had not a very extensive acquaintance here. Funeral services were conducted from the house Sunday and burial made in Danby cemetery. Rev. Stewart of Portland Baptist church conducting the services.
