He was 65 years old, was born in Germany, and came to America 36 years ago. He was married there to Caroline Gallop, who passed away a little over 20 years ago. A little over a year later, he was married to Miss Minnie Stedman, who survives, but the two children born to them died at an early age. Four children survive from first marriage: Frank, Edith, wife of Emil Rubach, Elizabeth wife of Harry Straub, and Miss Edna. Deceased worked in railroad shops 25 years, most of the time as machinist. He was a member of Lutheran church, a man of unblemished character and strictest integrity, and in every respect a high type of citizen. He retired from his place in railroad shops three years ago, and has been in rapidly failing health since last September. He was taken very suddenly with a bad spell about 11 Saturday night, and died a little over two hours later. Funeral service at the Lutheran church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral for Carl Ammon, at Lutheran church, Wednesday afternoon, was largely attended by long-time friends, and the service by Rev. H.B. Succop were appropriate to the memory of a good citizen and faithful member of the church. Floral tributes testified to the esteem of friends. Interment was in Highland Park. The bearers were Louis Melzow, Fred Rubach, sr., Wm. Warnke, and Godfrey Wendland.
