He was born December 8, 1872, the son of Karl and Minnie Ammon. December 28, 1893 he was married to Amelia Schmidt who preceded him in death August 2, 1948. Mr. Ammon was connected with the dry goods business until he retired seven years ago. More than 60 years ago he entered the employ of the F. W. Stevenson Co. as a clerk, where he remained for a few years until he went into the dry goods store of Allen S. Wright. He remained with Mr. Wright until the latter’s death after which, for a time, he managed the store which was continued as the A. S. Wright Estate, by Grosvenor A. Wright, a Detroit resident and son of the proprietor. After his years in the Wright employ, Mr. Ammon returned to the F. W. Stevenson Co., where he was a salesman and a buyer for the firm until the early 1930’s. He also was employed at later periods in the Allen Bros., store and by the J. C. Penney Co., until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church. Surviving are one son, Russell, of Flint and one granddaughter, Mrs. John R. Warren of Grand Rapids; one nephew, James Straub of Muskegon; also several cousins in Ionia. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Boynton’s funeral home. Interment will be in the Highland Park mausoleum.
