Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 16 Jan 1948

Mrs. Eva Louise Amphlett, 79, widow of William H. Amphlett, former Ionia
alderman, died Thursday evening at the Ionia County Memorial hospital after
being ill for some time.  She entered the Ionia Convalescent home Friday and was
transferred to the Ionia hospital Saturday morning.

She was born Eva Stedman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. David Stedman, July 18,
1868, in Ronald.  On January 1, 1887, she married William H. Amphlett of Ionia
who died June 24, 1946.  Mrs. Amphlett spent all of her married life in Ionia
except for a few years in Dakota and Kentucky.  She was a member of the First
Methodist church.

Surviving her are two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Gilmore of Ionia, and Mrs. Maud Sayles
of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Lee Stedman of Ionia and N. W. Stedman of
Cosmopolis, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.  One daughter, Pearl
Amphlett, died 40 years ago.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Stone funeral home by the Rev.
Dwight M. Kitch Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock with interment in Highland
Park cemetery.
