Our Lord took his faithful servant, Axel Andersen-Vie from Foote Hospital, Jackson, to his heavenly home on Monday, April 21, 2003. Axel, son of Emil and Ragnhild Andersen-Vie, was born in Randers, Denmark, and came to the United States at the age of 3. A charter member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Greenville, he has been an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson for more than 38 years. Axel, a retired design engineer, was the founding member and first commander of the Jackson branch of the United States Power Squadron and served the Jackson community as a Boy Scout leader for 10 years. Cherishing his memories are Mary Jane, his wife of 62 years; his four children, Eric Karen, Kurt and Llisa; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. A memorial service is 7 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 122 E. Wesley, Jackson. The funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday at Hurst Funeral Home, 1801 W. Washington, Greenville, with the Rev. Mark R. Pflug officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m. Friday. Donations may be made in Axel’s name to Trinity Lutheran School.
