Anderson, 87, Belding, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Belding. Carl was born Aug. 27, 1913, in Grand Rapids, the son of Charles and Elsie Owens Anderson. He attended Burton and South High School, Grand Rapids. On Oct. 8, 1934, he married Rhea Mosher. She preceded him in death on April 7, 1996. He also was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, and his daughter, Ann Marie Wilson. Carl was a life member of Belding Masonic Lodge 355 F&AM and past patron and member of Doric Lodge 75 OES. During his working years, Carl was an industrial engineer for several appliance and automotive parts firms including Gibson Refrigerator, Ionia Manufacturing, Willy’s Motors do Brazil, Sao Paulo, Kaiser Jeep, Toledo, Ohio, and retired from General Tire in Ionia in 1978. He later worked as a consulting engineer for C&F Stamping in Grand Rapids until 1987. Carl enjoyed woodworking and spending time tending his lawn and garden. He also enjoyed working with plastics. Carl belonged to the Barber Shop Quartet Singing Association and sang with the Mellow Aires, who included Ray Lally, Harry Treynor and Percy Durnell, while they were employed at the Murray Corp. Carl is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Frank Anderson of St. Louis, Mo., Jim and Karla Anderson of East Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Kelly Garcia, Pamela Ostrander, Lisa and Dr. Ty Tvedten, Dale Wilson, Gavin and Daneena Anderson, Ashlin Anderson; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Interment will be in Otisco Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Belding Masonic Temple or Ionia Area Hospice.
