ANDERSON OF MUIR PASSES AWAY MONDAY MORNING Was Well Known Church Worker; Had Been Ill Long Time Funeral services for Mrs Helen J. Anderson who died last Monday morning were held from the late residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E.G. White of Ionia officiated and Rev. Alfred Halstead of Lyons gave a brief summary of the life of the deceased. Mrs. George Steadman, Maurice Koope and Richard Lincoln furnished the music during the services. Mrs. Anderson, daughter of the late George and Mary Edwards, was born in Bristol, England, April 28, 1852, and came to America with her parents 72 years ago, and lived in the vicinity of Muir until her death. She was united in marriage to James D. Anderson by the late Rev. George Ransom, pastor of the Muir Presbyterian church, May 1, 1872, settling in Muir, where she had since resided. She was confirmed an Episcopalian at the age of 14. In the year 1871 she united with the Muir Church of Christ, where she has been an active worker, and where she sang in the choir for 35 years. Her pleasing personality and sterling qualities won for her the highest esteem of those who knew her. Being of a retiring disposition and not given to display, the little children and the older people found in her a real friend. Her smiling face greeted everyone. Her home life was such that those visiting her home were always welcome. She had been in poor health for the past year, having creeping paralysis and Wednesday was taken critically sick with flu, and passed from this life to the Great Beyond Monday morning at 2 o'clock. She leaves her husband, J. D. Anderson and a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Anderson-Smith. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. John C. Lefsing, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Arch Faulkner and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Anderson, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Anderson, Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Foltz and Mr. Bert Faulkner, Ionia, Mr. W. B. Shumway of Tiffin, Ohio; Mrs. Chas. Newton, Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Toan, Portland; Mrs. Emory Danner, Mrs. Wm. Dilley and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Ely and Jesse Smith of Ionia.
