Mr. Anderson was born in St. Louis, MO on February 10, 1941, the son of Dr. Donald and Faye Alice (Hawley) Anderson. Many will remember Merlin from his days as an Eaton County Sheriff Deputy. He held many positions including Instructor for the water rescue division, dispatch, road patrol and evidence tech program. He served the department for 31 years from 1964 until his retirement in 1995. Andy was known to many as amateur radio operator K8EFS, an interest he practiced for over 52 years. His amateur radio interest was often combined with his love to travel across the country to shows and events with his family. Andy was a member and Past President of the Olivet Rotary Club in 1999 and was also a Paul Harris Fellow. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Tina (Louis Ernest III) Otter of Livonia; son, Donald (Rhea) Anderson of Mason; grandchildren, Nicholas Lea-Anderson, Thomas Lea-Anderson, Jamie Otter, Sullivan Otter; step-grandchildren, Jolie York, Lea Robbins, Dakota Robbins. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday June 17, 2011 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI with Reverend Kathy Smith officiating. Interment will be in Danby Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, The Diabetes Association or the Rotary Foundation.
