Andres, 89, of Ionia died Wednesday, May 7, at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital. Ernest was born Sept. 2, 1907 in Belding, the son of John and Mary (Jacoby) Andres. He graduated from SS. Peter and Paul’s Academy and from Greer Electrical School in Chicago. He served in the U.S. navy during WWII. He married Audrienne V. Hale in Ionia on March 21, 1946. He worked as an electrician for 50 years. He was a member of SS. peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, a life member of the Ionia Elks B.P.O.E. #548 and a life member of the Disabled American Vets. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Audrienne; one daughter, Audrienne (William) Lynch of Ionia; one son, Laurence (Judy) Andres of Ionia; four children, Meagan Andres of Grand Rapids, Maureen Lynch and Larry and Marc Andres of Ionia; and one sister, Loretta Slowinski of Ionia. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by one sister, Hilda Andres in 1993. Funeral Mass for Ernest J. Andres will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, from SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Hall presiding. Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rich St. Chapel of Cook Funeral Home in Ionia, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Interment will be in Lyons Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia County Memorial Hospital. Envelopes are available at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia.
