She was born on the family farm near Orleans, on March 14, 1919, the daughter of George and Agnes (DeMoure) Heppe. She attended a country school near her home prior to attending high school in Belding. She married Harold H. Andres on April 18, 1947, and the couple enjoyed 37 years of marriage. Harold died on Aug. 7, 1984. As were many women of her era, she was strong and independent with many interests. She cared deeply for her family and took good care of her home. She was a member of Smyrna Bible Church and for many years was active in the Senior Citizens group activities and the Ionia Area Commission on Aging. She leaves a loving family to cherish her memory including her sons, Samuel (Mary) of Greenville, Martin (Melody) of Belding and David (Diane) of Belding; grandchildren, Nicholas of Cedar Springs, Michele (Wayne) Krick of Greenville, Andrea Lisagor of Greenville, Daniel (Nicole) of Manassas, Via., Hannah (Garrett) O’Hara of Arlington, Texas, Esther also of Arlington, Charity (John) Day of Georgia, Naomi (fiancée Nathan) of Belding, Noelle Hochstetler of Indiana, Ashley (Will) Wagner of Ionia, Matthew (fiancée Danielle) of Greenville and Christina and Alyssia both of Belding; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Lorna (Floyd) Ehlert of Belding; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Ciganik of Belding; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Russ and June Horn. Alta was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Eric Andres; and three siblings, Bessie, Alvin and Orville Heppe. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge St., Belding. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Reverend Darwyn Hassert officiating. The family will also greet visitors for an hour prior to the service on Monday beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will take place in the spring next to her spouse, Harold, at Otisco Township Cemetery, near Belding.
