EARLY RESIDENT DIED SUNDAY EVENING
Mrs.Mary Andrews Passed Away at the Home of Daughter Mrs.Eva Blossom.

Mrs.Mary Melissa Andrews died Sunday evening at the home of her daughter Mrs Eva 
Blossom, who lives east of Portland. Mrs.Andrews has been in poor health for a 
long time with stomach trouble. She was 82 years old.

Mr and Mrs Andrews were residents of Westphalia in their early life. They moved 
to Sebewa and then when the village of Bonanza started, they built a new house 
on the northeast corner in what is now this village limits. When the town of 
Bonanza became Lake Odessa they had their home moved to Second avenue, locating 
just west of what is now the home of Mrs. Millie Garlinger.

Mr. Andrews was a most devoted Christian man and served several years as 
superintendent of the Congregational Sunday school here. He died 27 years ago. 
Since that time Mrs.Andrews has secured work in the village, spending part of 
her time with her daughter near Portland. She was a great lover of flowers and 
many times in their season remembered The Wave-Times with large bouquets, 
especially Lillies.

Besides her daughter and a grandson she leaves a sister Mrs Laylia Stanton of 
Mesick, and a brother Justin Helmer of Lansing. A brother Pet Helmer was killed 
on the railroad track here many years ago.

The funeral was held at Congregational church in Portland, Tuesday, Rev. W.E. 
Doty officiating and burial was in Portland cemetery.
