Andrews, daughter of Lewis and Eliza Andrews, was born in Dumfries, Canada, February 11, 1830. She with her parents and other children moved to Noble county, Indiana, where they lived until 1839. While there the father and two youngest children died. Soon after the mother and remaining children emigrated to Michigan, being assisted by her brother, enduring many hardships of camping, cooking, fording streams, sleeping in covered wagons. They arrived in Alton, then just a Godfrey settlement. There the mother took up land from the government. In 1841 the mother married Samuel Wells. The family then moved to what is now called Potters Corners in Keene, Ionia county, which was then a dense forest of heavy timber. Here Sarah attended school and received a fair education. In 1848 the subject of this writing was married to William M. Andrews. She, with her husband, settled on a farm near Grattan Center. Her husband and self knew well the privations of pioneer life. Two daughters were born to them, Mrs. Merritt Sayles and Mrs. Ida Gunsolus, the latter lately deceased. Having sold this farm they bought another in Keene, where Mr. Andrews’ health gave out. The oldest daughter and husband came to care for them and work the farm. From there they moved to Lowell, where in May 1904, the husband and father died. Since then she has made her home with her daughter and husband, receiving every attention and tenderest care. Having lived to a good old age, she passed away July 1, 1922 at 12:45. Mrs. Andrews, in early life, joined the Christian church, being the most liberal at that time, her home was with them when near enough to attend. Mrs. Andrews was an invalid for a number of years and a great sufferer. She leaves to mourn their loss one daughter and her husband, one half brother, Albert Wells of Los Angeles, California, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren besides a host of friends. A good woman is gone. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/a/andrews9086nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.6 Kb
