Chas. E. Aniba, Soldier and Pioneer, Passes Over. Chas. E. Aniba died at 9:30 last night. He recognized his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Casky, who arrived at 9:25, from Kalamazoo, having missed connection at Grand Rapids on Saturday evening. Decedent was born in Clinton county Feb. 4, 1845, and thus lacked less than a month of being 60 years old. He was a son of John Aniba, who was an early resident here, and decedent’s boyhood days were spent in Ionia. He was married to Alice Harter, daughter of Lawrence Harter, a brother of Benjamin and Harvey, and a resident of Ronald, April 1, 1867, who survives him. He leaves no children. He lived in Jackson sixteen years, but a little over ten years ago returned to Ionia, and has since carried on the barber business here, until incapacitated by illness. He has been in feeble health for two or three years, and for some months has been in critical condition. He did not suffer pain in his last illness, and his end was peaceful. The funeral will take place at M. E. church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, in charge of Borden post. Friends wishing to view remains can do to at the home from 11 to 1, on Wednesday.
