Ionia Sentinel Standard – 4 August 1967
Mrs. Cora R. Anway, 96, died late Thursday afternoon at Mason general hospital 
in Mason, where she had been a patient four days.  Mr. Anway, former Lake 
Odessa resident, left Lake Odessa in 1927, and moved to Muskegon heights, 
where she lived 25 years.  She then moved to Dansville.  Services will be 
Sunday at 2 pm with the Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiating.  Burial will be in 
lakeside Cemetery.  The body is at Pickens Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Anway was born January 1, 1871, in Ohio, the daughter of Elizah and 
Almeda Shepherd.  During her residence in Lake Odessa she was a member of Lake 
Odessa church and women’s club, and a post office employee and township 
treasurer several years.  She was a Sunday school teacher and a school teacher 
at rural schools in the Lake Odessa vicinity.  Surviving are one daughter, 
Mrs. Elmer Ojala of Dansville, granddaughter, and three great granddaughters.  
Her husband Leonard preceded her in death in 1920.
