Mr. Arms had not been well for some time; but while acting as juror at the February term of the circuit court he was taken sick and did not avail himself of proper medical care and nursing, but he probably contracted his last sickness by walking home from Portland one night through a blinding storm of snow and wind. He was a veteran of the late war and a pensioner. He was a member of John Megerah Post, G.A.R. of Portland; he was a member of the Baptist church also of this place. The funeral services were conducted from Grange Hall, Danby, on Monday afternoon of this week and were largely attended, for deceased had lived in this vicinity for many years, enlisting into the army at Portland in ’61. The remains were interred in Danby cemetery, a delegation from the G.A.R. attending. Rev. Bower conducted the services. Mr. Ames was a brother of Geo. Arms of Orange and Mrs. Chas. Hastings of Portland. He leaves a wife and one son, Ray, to mourn his loss.
