WAYNBE ARMSTRONG, 96
Wayne Keith Armstrong, 96, of Ionia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 20,
2018.

Wayne was born on Aug. 31, 1921, to Fred and Vera Armstrong in Stanton.He graduated
from Stanton High School in 1938. Wayne went on to graduate from County Normal in 
1940. He then married the love of his life, Alice. They were married for 60 years.
Wayne served during World War II from 1943-1946. He grew up on a farm and after his
service in the army, he worked at and managed several different grain elevators in Stanton, Six
Lakes and Ionia. He was also co-owner of Buy-Way, Inc. (a poultry farm) south of Ionia
from the mid-sixties to the early eighties.

He enjoyed pheasant hunting and trap shooting in his younger years while golfing and
bowling later in life. He also loved animals, especially his dogs and horses. He
took pride in and enjoyed mowing his lawn, up until he was 95 years old.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Alice; and his
great-grandson, Cody Nutt. He is survived by his children, Susan (Mike)Miller of Ionia, and David
(Debra) Armstrong of East Lansing; grandchildren, Michelle (Ace) Nutt of Texas and Lindsey 
Armstrong of Detroit, MI.; great-grandchildren, Chelsea (Kyle) Shattuck of Minnesota
and Cadence Nutt of Texas.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at LeValley United
Methodist church. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service  (1-2 p.m).
Memorial contributions can be made to Great Lakes Hospice or LeValley United Methodist
Church. Arrangements handled by Lake Funeral Home-Ionia. Please visit the family's online
