She was born November 23, 1921 in Toronto,Ohio, the daughter of Thomas & Nan (Bell) Straka. She graduated from Toronto High School in 1939 & attended Western Michigan College in 1940 to 1944 receiving a degree in Home Economics. She was married to Maurice S.Armstrong on May 25, 1945 in Toronto, Ohio. Mrs. Armstrong taught at Toronto High School from 1944 to 1947 and at Lake Odessa Lakewood High School from 1947 to 1989. She was a member of the Saint Edwards Catholic Church, the Altar Society and a life member of the M.A.R.S.P. Surviving are her husband, Maurice, two sons; Randall Armstrong of Lansing, and Phillip Armstrong of Winston Salem, North Carolina; one sister; Jane L. Hudok of Toronto, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas & Nan Straka, a sister Nancy Hook & a brother Thomas Straka. Funeral Mass was held Monday, January 17, 1994 at Saint Edwards Catholic Church in Lake Odessa with Father Thomas Boufford officiating. A Memorial has been established for Hospice of Ionia County & Saint Edwards Church building fund. Arrangements were made by Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.
