Armstrong was born in Vermontville, Mich., October 15, 1870 and died in Muskegon, Mich., July 6, 1888, whither she had been taken several weeks previously for medical treatment. He disease was consumption and so quickly did it accomplish its fatal work that until some four months since our young friend was well and strong. Ethie was a Christian and ready and willing to die. She has gone to her sainted mother in heaven. She was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church one year ago last winter. Thus to her pastor happened, what seldom falls to an ordinary Methodist Minister, namely to receive her into the church, baptize her, and finally to preach her funeral sermon. Her remains were brought to Carson City and the funeral was held in the Methodist Episcopal church on Sunday, July 8. The Sunday School had adorned the church with plants and flowers and her church class attended in a body and by their tears witnessed their affection for their former classmate. Her remains were taken to Hubbardston for burial when the Rev. W. H. Skentlebury attended the last sad rites at the grave. Mr. Armstrong and remaining daughter Flora have the kindest sympathy of all their neighbors and friends.
