Ionia Standard, 9 May 1890

Mrs. Mattie A. Arnold, beloved wife of Ed. I. Arnold of Keene, passed to her 
reward on Sunday morning last, after a severe sickness.  She was aged 27 
years.  A young woman of amiable disposition, bright, cheerful, and possessed 
in a rare measure of woman’s best qualities, she died too soon, and will be 
missed in the community where she was born, where she spent her whole life, and 
where she died.  Funeral services were held at her late residence in Keene at 
noon on Tuesday, and later at her mother’s (Mrs. Stebbin’s) old home, near the 
Dexter school house in Easton, after which the remains were conveyed to Oak 
Hill cemetery for interment.
