His body was found lying near a fence, beside a bundle of wood he had picked up by his wife, who was attracted to the woods by the return of Arnold’s faithful dog. Ill with heart trouble for some time, Arnold went into the woods but a half hour before his death with his dog at his side. Coroner Harry Myers, who said no inquest would be necessary, said he died of a sudden heart attack. He is survived by his wife, Della Ruth; a son, Herbert Arnold, of Chicago; a brother, Alf Henderson, of New York, and a sister, Corinne Young, who address is unknown. Arnold was a veteran of the Spanish-American war and served with the United States army during the entire campaign with Company H, 4th Wisconsin Infantry. He was born in Wakefield, N.J. and came to Michigan to live nearly 60 years ago, where he lived most of his life.
