Ionia Standard, 26 Feb 1915

Melvin Arnold died on Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock, at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. William G. Stowell, at the American house.  He was 84 years old, and was
one of the pioneer residents of Berlin township, but the recent years had
alternated his time with his children at Marion, Osceola county, and those in
Ionia.  The children living in Ionia are, Mrs. William Stowell, R.E. Arnold of
South Dexter street, and M.E. Arnold of West Washington St., and those living at
Marion are, Mrs. Flora Disbrow and Mrs. Kate Sible.  The faithful helpmeet of 58
years also survives, at the ripe age of 79 years, and she was at the bedside
when the lights went out.  Funeral on Thursday at 2 p.m., attended from the home
where he died.  Interment in Balcom cemetery.
