The Ionia Standard, Friday, May 6, 1904


Another of Ionia’s old settlers gone.  Anson R. Arnold, who came to Ionia in 
1835, with is father, Dexter Arnold, died on May 4th, at the home of his 
daughter, Mrs. Johnson, near Mt. Pleasant.  He would have been 82 years old 
the last of this month.  He leaves two daughters and five grandchildren, three 
brothers and many friends.

Albert Williams, C. A. Preston, P. H. Taylor, W. D. Arnold, John Taylor and B. 
R. Covert were in the party to meet the remains and attend the burial of 
Stephen F. Dexter.  So far as any of these can recall, they are all who are 
resident here who have recollections from personal intimacy with deceased, 
except Hon. J. C. Blanchard.
