Ash, 97, of Greenville, entered the grace of our Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in Fenwick. Nora was born April 12, 1911, in Henninger, Ala., the daughter of Grant and Margaret McCormick Smith. Nora was a member of the First Congregational Church, Belding, and the South Side Birthday Club and a former member of the Moose and the Belding Garden Club. For a number of years Nora enjoyed bowling. Nora was married on March 15, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, to Frank Ash, and he preceded her in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter in infancy in 1944, four brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter, Kristen Sower Mathewson in 2000. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Jerry Pearson of Fenwick; two grandchildren Scott and Laura Palmateer, Liane Palmateer; five great-grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Byron Davey of the First Congregational Church officiating. Private interment will follow in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Congregational Church or the Belding Museum.
