Belding Banner-News - November 18, 1965

JOHN ASHLEY

John Ashley, age 78, of 9573 Button rd., Smyrna, died unexpectedly Tuesday at 
United Memorial hospital, Greenville.

Mr.Ashley was born at Coral, Michigan, January 24, 1887, and was married to the 
former Joyce Joslyn of Belding, January 6, 1909. He had been an area resident 
for the past 40 years.

A foreman at Belding Basket factory until it closed. Mrs.Ashley retired soon 
afterwards.

Surviving are his widow, Joyce, one son, John F.Ashley,Coral; two daughters, 
Mrs.Mildred Flint, Los Angeles,Calif., Mrs.Verna Beard, Sheridan; five 
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Fitzjohn-Courser 
Funeral Home with the Rev. C.H. Bacon officiating.Burial will be in Smyrna 
cemetery.

Pallbearers are Royal Davis, Edgar Joslin, Fred JOslin, Dick Ashley, Earl Davis 
and R.C. Seeley.
