William M. Astle, 56, of Ionia died Monday at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, 
Grand Rapids.

Born Jan. 25, 1933, in Charleroi, Pa., he was the son of Milton and Mary Morris 
Astle.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was married to Leona Kaiser June 22, 1957, in Ionia.

He worked for 10 years for Mitchell-Bentley Corporation in Ionia and retired 
from Steelcase Inc., in 1988 after working there 23 years.

He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the 
American Legion post in Saranac and the VFW post in Lowell.

Surviving are his wife Leona; a son, William R. Astle of Ionia; a daughter, 
Mrs. Allan (Marianne) Kosters of Byron Center; two grandchildren, Melissa and 
William A.; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Robert Claybaugh of Charleroi, 
Pa.; and several uncles and aunts.

Complete funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from SS. Peter and 
Paul Church.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  The family will be at 
Cook Funeral Home, Ionia, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Rosary 
will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday.  Memorials have been established for SS. 
Peter and Paul Church, the American Cancer Society, and the Ionia Area Hospice, 
in care of the funeral home.
