She was born May 29, 1913 in Little Current, Ontario, Canada to Frederick and Ann Marie Astle. She was a senior at Ionia High School when she moved with her parents to London, England. She served in the Royal Air Force in England during World War II. She returned to Ionia in 1967 where she worked for 10 years at the Ionia Manor as a cook. Harriet was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Ionia. She received her High School diploma in 1970 with the first adult graduation class at the Ionia High School. Annie loved people and was famous for her Lemon Pie and cookies, and she loved to play Bingo. Harriet is preceded in death by her parents, brother William and sister Margaret Esther. She is survived by her cousins, Marge Kernen, Bob and Melanie Bennett, Greg and Kris Lyons, Fred and Cindee Kernen and their families. Funeral Eucharist will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2006 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Ionia with Fr. John English presiding. Inurnment will take place at Oakhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
