The Weekly Standard, Friday, November 29, 1889


During our period as correspondent, we have recorded a good many deaths, but 
none that seems so sad and unfortunate as this of Fred. B. Atis, son of N. L. 
Atis, of Bloomer, Nov. 10th, of hormorage of the lungs.  Fred was an 
exceptionally talented young man, of excellent character and genial 
disposition.  He graduated at Alient in ’88, and was, at the time of his death, 
in the middle year of the divinity school, at New Haven, Conn.

Memorial services will be held next Sunday evening at the East Bushnell church, 
conducted by Eld. Munger.  Eld. Atis was notified of his son’s illness, and at 
once started, but arrived 8 hours after his death.  The Elder feels that a 
great light has forever gone from his pathway.  He has the sympathy of all in 
his hour of trial.
