Atkins, 69, passed away at the Soldiers’ Home in Grand Rapids Tuesday morning February 9. Mrs. Atkins had been in ill health for some time due to heart trouble but was sufficiently better last fall to enter the home in Grand Rapids. Sarah L. Pike McIntosh Atkins was born in Keene township, Ionia county in 1863 to Mr. and Mrs. Murray Pike. In 1882 she was united in marriage to James W. McIntosh and lived for some years in Ionia, coming to Belding in 1897 and locating on Pearl street which home she owned at the time of her death. Mr. McIntosh passed away January 7th 1915. To this union was born six children, three daughters, who preceded their father in death, three sons survive. They are Ernest and Glen McIntosh, of Detroit, and Vern McIntosh, of Dayton, Ohio. In 1917 she was married to Erwin Atkins, who passed away about 2 years ago. Mrs. Atkins was prominent in the Central M. E. church, Rebekah lodge and W. R. C. and will be missed by all who knew her as she was a cheerful little woman and faithful friend. Funeral services will be held form the Fitzjohn funeral home Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. G. A. Mooers will officiate, and burial will be in Highland park cemetery in Ionia.
