Wave-Times, Friday, Nov. 30, 1923 Martha H. Hayner was born in Lockport, Niagara county, New York, September 19, 1845. February 20, 1870, she was united in marriage to Edward M. Atkins and two years later moved to Berlin township, Ionia county, Michigan. No children were born to them but several children found a home in their hearts. Mr. Atkins passed away in 1902. In 1915 she came to Lake Odessa nd leer went to the Clark Memorial Home in Grand Rapids, where she lived until November 23, 1923, when she left this world for the Heavenly home. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for may years having joined in 1885 under the ministry of Rev. J.F. Orwich. She was a noble Christian woman. Nearly all of her dear ones have gone on before and there will be a happy reunion in Heaven. The funeral was held at the M.E. church Monday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. F.H. Cramer, preaching the sermon. Burial was at Saranac.
