The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, June 9, 1950
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chambers, 301 East Main Street, received word Friday 
morning of the death of Charles Atkins, 88, of Montgomery Thursday night after 
being seriously ill for six weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Atkins lived here for three years and worked during that time at 
the Ionia County Memorial hospital.  They moved to Montgomery four years ago.  
While here, Mr. Atkins was janitor and Mrs. Atkins nurse’s aid at the 
hospital.  Mr. and Mrs. Chambers visited Mr. and Mrs. Atkins Sunday.  

His body will be taken to Olney, Ill. For burial.
