Harwood, four miles southeast of Ionia at nine o’clock Sunday morning. The young man had been in the employ of Mr. Harwood as a farm hand. The remains were brought to Portland late Sunday afternoon by Undertaker Bandfield and were taken to the home of Mrs. Harriet Ames, a sister. Funeral services were held at the new M. E. church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00, Rev. Wm. W. Slee officiating, and interment was in Portland cemetery. Deceased was one of the youngest members of a large family, being survived by his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mark Burhans, Coral, Harry and Horace Atwell, Grand Ledge; Mrs. Hattie Ames, Mrs. Claude Barber, Claude, William and Ted Atwell of Portland. He was born in Danby township 21 years ago Monday and had spent his entire life in the immediate vicinity.
