February 4, 1916 BYRON AUGST DIES OF PNEUMONIA DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT ABOUT 9:30 SUNDAY NIGHT-HAD BEEN IN POOR HEALTH FOR TWO OR THREE MONTHS. The fore part of the week the many relatives and friends of Byron E. Augst were pained to learn that at about 9:30 o'clock Sunday night he passed out of this life and into the great beyond. Although he had been in poor health for some three or four months back, he had not considered it necessary to leave his work, in an automobile factory at Detroit, until about two months ago, at which time he returned to the home of his parents, Mr and Mrs A.B. Augst, northeast of Lake Odessa. He seemed to be recovering nicely and about two or three weeks ago made a trip to Detroit, when he caught a severe cold, which later developed into acute pneumonia, which probably was the immediate cause of his death. The funeral was held at the house Wednesday forenoon at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J.E. Edwards. The music was furnished by the choir of the Sebewa Baptist church. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. The deceased was born in April 1890, on a farm near this place, and remained here until after his first marriage. Later he went west and after a few months retuned home for a short time, after which he went to Detroit, where he was united in marriage Dec. 22, 1915, to Miss Ella Bolio. He leaves to mourn his death a wife in Detroit; a daughter, Helen, and son Harold, by his first wife; a brother, William, in Grand Rapids, and a sister, Dorothy, at home; besides a loving father and mother, other relatives and a host of friends. The out of town relatives who attended the funeral were his wife, Mrs. Ella Augst; Mr. Bolie and Mr and Mrs. Flachey of Detroit; a brother, Mr and Mrs William Augst of Grand Rapids, and Mrs H.D. Bishop of Chicago. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/a/augst41251nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.4 Kb
