Lavancha E. (Townsend) Austin, 94, of 729 Norton Street, Corunna, formerly of 
Lyons, died Tuesday in an Owosso hospital.  She was born September 3, 1897, in 
Sebewa Township, the daughter of William and Hatti Hair Ingraham.  She married 
Emmett Townsend in 1917.  He preceded her in death in 1941.  She married Orin 
Austin in July of 1954.  He preceded her in death in 1966.  She was a former 
employee of an Ionia nursing home.

She is survived by three sons, Albert Townsend, of Harrison, Harry Townsend of 
Chippewa Lake, and Weston Townsend of Ionia; one step-son Oren Austin of Lake 
Odessa, three daughters; Iva Noble of Owosso, Rachael Jerosimich and Mary Esham 
of Ionia; one step-daughter Lura Proctor of Ithaca; 15 grandchildren; 34 great 
grandchildren and 48 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir, with 
the Rev. Jeffrey Gunderman officiating.  Burial will be in Lyons cemetery.  The 
family will be at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.  A memorial 
has been established for the Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
