Belding – Ivan L. “Buff” Austin Jr., 59, Belding, passed away Tuesday, March 
31, 1998, at Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids.

He was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Belding to Ivan E. and Zylpha M. Antcliff 
Austin.  He retired in 1986 as a millwright and auto mechanic.

He is survived by his children, Sandy and Jesse Flowers of McBride, James 
Austin of Lowell, Mike Austin of Sheridan, Rick Austin of Belding; seven 
grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Deloris Meyers of Orleans, 
Arlene and Bill Venneman of Belding, Colene Nead of Grand Rapids, Linda and 
Jerry Tingley of Greenville; one brother and sister-in-law, Raymond “Teaner” 
and Becky Austin of Belding.  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding, 
with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating.  Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory 
Gardens.  Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the 
funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the 
Alvah N. Belding Library.
